Dang it, My batteries are dead on the boat.

I haven't used the boat since we bought the farm 4 years ago so I'm sure the batteries are dead, That said I put two of these on years back with impressive results. The starter battery lasted 11 years, the double bank lasted 9 years.

When I had mine everytime I went out to prep the boats I was headed to the boat parts shop or online for express delivery. It's a never ending story. To much maintenance! The best thing I ever did is sell it. I figured up boat cost per pound of fish and came to the conclusion that for every 10 fish I caught cost me about a thousand bucks. That's $100 a pound for fish. Ridiculous fun but unless your are just oozing cash it's a nightmare.

What's with the sissy seafood tongs? You got some sort of thumb and forefinger disability? :)

Seriously, regarding the battery: One full discharge isn't the death of a battery. If your boat has a good digital charger, they'll come back up to charge. Carry a portable jumper box on the boat if it makes you nervous. If they're well into their lifespan, maybe you can justify replacing them now, but if they still take and hold a charge, keep using them.
Those are also scales.

I've owned about 10 different bass boats over the years and I doubt I've spent more than 2000 dollars on maintenance for them all including batteries.

When I sold it I had totally gone through the whole boat. The guy that bought it got a peach. I was just burnt out on bringing that one up to snuff. Sure was nice being out in the lake in the sunsets of those beautiful Virgina spring and fall sunsets. That is priceless!

Well to tell the truth I purchased and older boat that had just a handful of hours. So all the small stuff just added up over time. Everytime I went out it seemed something else needed attention. If I would have had the funds I would have got a newer one which would probably been a different experience. Me and my father had a good one in the '80s that needed nothing. All we did was just take it out and go boating, fishing and skiing and keep it weatherized and it was a peach. Lot of good fishing in that boat we did.

If I had it all to do over again I would have bought a bike and I would have still had it .

WOW, well that puts it in perspective. I bought my little boat new and took care of it. Not much to worry about. I serviced it every year. But like you , the cost may be about the same. But it is just a simple little boat

That's what I did with the boat. I bought it new because I didn't know anything about them. And just kept it all these years. If that boat where a car, it'd have over 300k on it
