The likelihood of surplus foreign 7.62 nato ammo shooting well/accurately at distance is minimal. Not to mention, the 147 to 155 grain 30 cals don't do particularly well at distance.That’s fair. Spotting through your scope... 6.5 definitely gets the nod.
But I think in this environment... you cannot discount ammo availability.
There’s only so many 6.5 makers... yet you can get 7.62 surplus from across the globe.
Here’s the great thing about the platform... can always barrel swap later to a different cartridge when ammo is more plentiful and cheaper.
Anyone who makes ammo, makes 6.5 creedmoor, and lots of it. Match grade ammo is hard to find right now. Period. 308 and 6.5 are both gone quickly when posted.
