I just really wish people would not be so sensative, especially since this is a site mainly for guns. As long as the person is not being a complete dick about the other persons price I don't see a big concern for worrying about adding/removing additional rules.
It wasn't turning off the comments that made most of us leave GON, it was turning off the classifieds altogether. That being said, don't punish the group as a whole, just punish those that can't seem to follow the rules.
I like the comments. I think the rules that have been set are good but just need to be enforced better. The free bumps are nice.
I am the one that made them turn comments off at GON ... Im doing my best to keep them from getting turned off here .... in fact I rarely do respond in for sale ads at all ... hardly put an Ill take it

I like the comments, but I rarely post any. Today some A-hole buys the gun I am looking for for $500, and turns around and post it for $675. Is this what we are trying to protect? I am glad the other people commented on the thread to show their disapproval of it too! I am not a trouble maker, but there does need to be some rules about this kind of stuff; besides being illegal.
I guess if somebody wants to block comments they can just lock their ad,
No, it pops up the "item gone" banner when you close it. We have a new feature in the works where you will be able to allow or not allow comments in your ads without it looking closed or having the gone banner on it.
That's like walking into a gun shop with your buddy, and while you're looking at a gun you want he walks over and buys it for himself. Then when you say "ok, ill buy it" he smiles and says, "It's mine now, if you want it it will be an additional $200."
