Does a Chevy Tahoe make a good kid hauler?

I bought my Armada in 2008 when my girls were in school and I was the bus driver and after 12 years I still drive it daily and wouldn't get rid of it for anything. Now it's my 4wd, run over anything or anyone when the SHTF vehicle.

We had a Suburban for 6 years. It was awesome with transporting kids. It was not awesome when the motor crapped the bed at 144k miles due to the displacement on demand programming. No more chevys for us.
That's good info to know. I ain't a GM guy but find myself looking at Suburbans fairly often. And when you get right down to it the MPG is most likely the same between the Tahoe and Suburban. So why not get the extra room? The OP seems to not want a minivan but personally I wouldn't pass on the right one. I owned a Windstar for about a year. Don't get one of those whatever you do! But I really liked the space, seating options and sliding doors of a minivan. Most of them will be close to the right height for getting in and out of as well as getting younguns in and out. You just gotta research them since all minivans are not created equal.

Here's the deal. I've got a restored '73 F100 so I don't need another truck. I've got a '77 E150 I use as a home depot runner but I'm considering bolting bucket seats in it just for the kids. But I'd also need to do several other things to make it "presentable". And then I have two sedans and a '67 Ford. One of the sedans will go if I end up getting something different. The van will eventually have to go but if I can make it work for cheap, I will. But its needs rear Ac, paint, and a windshield sealed in addition to rear seating. Its not practical but its paid for and cheaper than investing in something new. So thats where I'm at. Too many toys...

I've got 4. The Sequoia worked better for 3, but, 4 will work if you pack light.
The kids like to puke in the suburban.
My vote is 05-07 Sequoia unless you have the money for a newer one.

That being said, I would never put my kids in anything smaller. That F250 doing 85 mph would tear up the back end of pretty much anything. Bigger is better.
