Does Goodwill actually help the needy/homeless?

Just did some quick research of facts . Their district CEO's are paid $250,000 +.
They hire people with disabilities BUT with that that being said they do not have to adhere to the "minimum wage act" and pay them less than minimum wage "because they have disabilities"....So who is helping who with jobs:doh:

As long as they aren't sucking up tax dollars to do any of it then I don't care.

If the statement below is accurate then they have a better record at job creation that the feds!

"In 2014, Goodwill organizations generated a total of $5.37 billion in revenue, 83 percent of which was spent directly on programs. In that time, the group provided 89 million total employment and community services, with more than 26.4 million people served and more than 318,000 people placed into employment"[4]

I've no idea about any of these, all I know is I used to deliver to the Salvation Army offices and I was disgusted about how large and luxuriously furnished they were.

I try to give unwanted items to people in person that I know. We have a Christian Outreach that I give the stuff that I would have thrown away.

Most charities are making somebody 6 figure wealthy.

LOL at "300 lb can of busted biscuits"
They look busted because they've obviously been buying their clothes at the Baby GAP. No issue with turning junk into cash. Far from it. People shouldn't think they are helping the needy or whatever by donating. If aomebody were to start a "Help the needy" program or business that helped the needy become "the not needy", that's who'd I'd donate to.

Pick a local charity to help. I do drop off things to Salvation Army but rarely Goodwill. Both do provide some job training but also an opportunity for thieves. Anything really nice is rarely put on the sales floor now and if it is, it's bought immediately by staff in the know for pennies for resale later. Around here, the church food drives would make you vomit. Most that queue up are hopping out of $50,000 automobiles with Gucci phone covers on their I6's, hair and nails all "did", looking like a 300lb can of busted biscuits all mad 'cause dey ain't no free hams dis yerr.

There's a black mega church called new birth in lithonia, it's where MLKs wife had her funeral. They would have regular food drives. There property borders a bunch of **** apartments, whose residents would walk down for the hand outs. Several times I was working there, the apts, when this was going on and I would have people try to sell me the food for cigarette and beer money, they would tell you that's what they wanted. I did buy 5+ lbs of chicken breast for 5 bucks once so the crackhead could buy a pack of newports.

Even when it's poor people taking it, you still have no idea where it'll end up.
