Does this wrap / covering appear to be asbestos?

How come you never volunteer to fix none of my junk? Lol

I have a hard time fixing my own junk lately with these seizures and body damage that seem to affect me , lol.
I wish I could work again, even just on my own junk !!

My concern is (if it is asbestos) handling it COULD cause the fibers to release into the air and pose a health risk.

It's an old part, so I always assumed it could be asbestos and treated it with care. I would like to reuse that preheat tube if possible, but maybe I just need to buy a replacement.

You would have to have breathed it for years. Is not a rapid infection kind of ailment.

Negative - not asbestos….. just leave it on there. It’s a heat shield sleeve .
It needs to be there to help choke warm up.
Just leave it alone.

It's a high temp wrap like they use for header wrap. It's harmless but I still wouldn't breath in the particles. Just use a mask removing it and then use a narrow width header wrap to insulate the part. I think the only things that were made out asbestos was brake shoes and pads long ago. They might have made some as heat shield under the passenger compartment but it was banned many, many years ago .
