No stickers necessary... If it's a truck, it's a target. They know that most people with pickups probably have guns, and at least half will have them in the truck.
And those console safes are useless. As you found out they can be popped in seconds. Same for the 'safes' you tie to your seat with a cable. Cutting the cable takes them a few seconds and they can open the safe at their leisure.
The short answer is that if you have a truck or SUV you will be a target. Don't leave anything in there that you want to keep when parked in a public lot. They'll still break a window or get in some other way (a friend had his door lock drilled at a Bass Pro) but that'll be about it.
As for the iPad, the cops don't bother with that even if you show them exactly where it is.
At least that's what my sister found when a thief stole hers after breaking into her house. The cop said they would have to get a warrant to search the location it was pinpointed to, and that was too much effort for a 'minor' theft.

The “citizen” has got to where he/she aren’t but a PITA to the police when it comes to theft or anything like that.
The police don’t do enough to lock the criminal up because they would actually have to do some work ! It is better or easier for the criminal to do enough or threaten enough for the citizen to be able to bust that ass or just kill them one !!
My opinion is they just need to be done with instead of having to support their butts in the jails.
We aren’t allowed to actually work them for profit , which is what should happen IMO.
The criminal should be worked and the pay go to the person they screwed over or stole from or whatever.
I say make them support themselves in jail and pay the citizens back for the cost of having to deal with their butts ! Unfortunately it will never happen.

Agree 100% If you steal and get caught you should repay the person you stole from with interest.
If you can't afford that you go to a work-program of some sort and pay them out of your wages until the debt is cleared. Don't want to work? Fine, you go to jail and work the prison laundry.

Not the first time they;ve done that obviously. That sucks. Hope they get caught.
What was your "Truck Pistol? Mine is a cheap ass Taurus PT111 G2. Only out $200 if I get hit, but I drive a Prius. Maybe I should add rainbow and unicorn stickers. Damn won't work with my Bronze Star license plate.
