Don't fall for it like I did!

No stickers necessary... If it's a truck, it's a target. They know that most people with pickups probably have guns, and at least half will have them in the truck.

And those console safes are useless. As you found out they can be popped in seconds. Same for the 'safes' you tie to your seat with a cable. Cutting the cable takes them a few seconds and they can open the safe at their leisure.

The short answer is that if you have a truck or SUV you will be a target. Don't leave anything in there that you want to keep when parked in a public lot. They'll still break a window or get in some other way (a friend had his door lock drilled at a Bass Pro) but that'll be about it.

As for the iPad, the cops don't bother with that even if you show them exactly where it is.

At least that's what my sister found when a thief stole hers after breaking into her house. The cop said they would have to get a warrant to search the location it was pinpointed to, and that was too much effort for a 'minor' theft.
Cops are pretty useless most everywhere today. We had a person stack up our hickory smoking wood against back door of the masonic lodge, smear grease on it and try to burn the lodge down. I guess they got scared and ran off. Police finally came out after 3 calls but then blamed us for it for not 'allowing' people to use the parking lot during the stockbridge amphitheater shows (mosty rap/soul stuff) then they didn't want to file a report.. they are worthless.
And sorry OP for the loss and aggravation

Sorry this happened to you . Hopefully those sons of batchez get caught and do some time. The bright side is, that they didn’t stick you up. Even if you would have been able to defend yourself, you would have had the cops up your ahhhh. Update us, if your stuff is recovered. For all the keyboard bad ahhh ninja gun fighters. Go to YouTube and watch some security videos of these “ car hoppers” breaking into cars….. they are all over GEORGIA!!!

Theft absolutely destroyed what little faith I had in law enforcement. About 4 years ago, the storage lot where I park my RV got hit twice in two months. The first time they pried open the understorage bay doors, cut my 50amp power cable and made off with about $2000 worth of tools and fishing equipment. Never got a single call from anyone in the police department. Never a single returned call. Eventually I quit calling. :tsk:

Second time they cut my catalytic converter off.

Sorry, OP. Charlotte's gone steadily down hill since about 96.
