Hypothetically...

So the great police force of Georgia Tech decided to give me a ticket (no chance at a warning) for driving without my headlights on in the middle of the afternoon while raining. He said after reviewing his dash cam that my lights were in fact off even though they were on when he approached my vehicle, I didn't turn them on in between. I also thought he wasn't even going to pull behind me as the vehicle in front of me failed to yield to a pedestrian in a cross walk and the cop pretty quickly made a u-turn after that. (I did pull over immediately, less than 100 feet after his light came on)

A little about my driving history, I've never received any ticket or warning, heck this is the first time I've ever been pulled over in my life. Also given it was in Fulton county, I believe it's a mandatory court appearance and I need to go anyway because the birthday listed and time on the citation are wrong.

Is there any advice you guys can give me to have the fine reduced or case dismissed.

Thanks

yea if your vehicle has an automatic daytime running lamp system then can you be held accountable for its delay in operation?

I know on my truck the lights will automatically come on if you turn on your wipers. I would consider this a lesson learned.

My legal advice is to never solicit legal advice on the ODT or internet in general.

BTW

It has long annoyed me when people don't turn on their lights in the rain or put on their God forsaken emergency flashers while driving.

Fo sho. Just turn your lights on, it's easy. And yeah, if you're concerned about the driving conditions, and your safety, don't render your indicators useless with flashing.

I truly hate to say this, but consider it a "lesson learned."
We've all been there!

Yes they have the full authority of Atlanta Police on campus. I guess my best bet is to go see the prosecutor/solicitor right before the court time and try to get it reduced. Just bummed that looking at my driving history he couldn't have given me a warning.

They obviouslly care more about traffic revenue than stopping all the armed robberies that happen on their campus every week

THats a pretty lame traffic stop for sure
