Driving in the rain without lights on citation.

it's a safety issue it doesn't matter if you can see it is so other drivers can see you.. one of my biggest driving pet peeves is folks who don't turn lights on when it's low light or raining..

When i was 18, i had got a ticket in hiram for speeding, GSP pulls me over and writes me a ticket. Go to court, No issuing officer in building/room, and still had to pay.. This was in the paulding county courthouse

Yes they have the full authority of Atlanta Police on campus. I guess my best bet is to go see the prosecutor/solicitor right before the court time and try to get it reduced. Just bummed that looking at my driving history he couldn't have given me a warning.

^^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^ ask for the chg to be reduced to viol of basic rules of the road...and pay the fine, get no points.
If he lets you do this it should not be sent in to the state and hit your insurance.

Ask nicely, he doesn't have to....

Yea just show up looking professional and ask nicely for it to be dropped or reduced, especially since you have a perfect record. That's always what I've done for speeding tickets and a "driving after curfew" even though I was 20, but still had my "under 18 license". I've gotten everything completely dropped except for 1 speeding ticket which was just greatly reduced.

are the GT police even real cops??

Post certified or not Ga tech is a private entity not a government entity. I saw an article the other day where several college police departments (primarily Agnes Scott if I remember correctly) are being called on the carpet and sued over their perceived authority on public roadways. The premise being that a private entity does not have the authority over citizens to police them, period. Basically the premise of the lawsuits is that they are nothing more than post certified security guards with no authority other than that granted to any other citizen.
We cant have just any private entity running their own police departments writing tickets and throwing citizens in jail now can we?
We'll just have to see what the courts say.

Good, I hope they bust every idiot for driving in the rain without lights. It's a serious road hazard. NO, your daytime running lights do not count. NO, your auto wiper/lights don't count. When it rains you reach down and flip on your light switch. It's really not that hard to do and it is Georgia law. If you find this so difficult then you deserve all the fines, crashes, lawsuits, injuries that occur to you.

Who said that..the question was are they real police...the answer is yes, they are post certified and can enforce the laws on campus and can assist the local jurisdiction if requested in an emergency...didn't see anything here that they were writing tickets outside their venue.
