Just dont douse the alternator and don't spray water on hot sensors. When I was young and working in the auto parts store a guy kept coming in and replacing a throttle position sensore on a Iroc Z28. After about the fifth one I asked " What are you doing right before the sensor dies? ". He said I just came out of the car wash. I did wash the car and engine. I then told him you can't spray cooler water on hot engine components. Never came back for another sensor. He did come back and said that was it. If you use engine degreaser use on hand warm engine only. Also make sure the degreaser is compatible with aluminum parts or it will instantly oxidize the alloy and look horrible.
