Grew up around guns, yet have rarely shot one. I believe in our rights and cannot go w/o saying I dislike Obama's attack on our rights. I have a few friends who have joined me at the gun range and Ive been wicked lucky to shoot several different pistols.

My first order of business (other than becoming naturally comfy with all the rules/safety) is to find my own firearm. I wish to have one for my home, or vehicle. Later when I am more natural I will consider something else to carry.

For a my first gun I know this -- sharing pictures of what I shot today..
Prefer a heavier automatic.
Shot a 22 (with a scope of sort - forget what it was called) - it was only a 9mm, but it felt good in my hand.
Really appreciated the Ruger P-94. Little recoil.. and equally stopping power.
9mm I have better aim - but I want stopping power for my first gun
the Glock was cool, but not convinced that the higher price is worth it.
do not like little guns, too much kick (and no desire to carry right now)
Revolvers are ok -- have not ruled them out.

Im all eyes and ears.. eager to learn.

Welcome! My wife has tried all calibers and models but she settled on Springfields XDs 3.3 9mm. Fiber optic sights, grip safety, and loaded chamber indicator. Try different ones until you are comfortable with the one you shoot best. Good luck and welcome to the ODT!
