Epic DOT fail today

DOT is doing the best they can, just because they have to share both salt trucks/snow plow with Alabama, doesn't mean they are slacking off.

Wait for the citizen backlash...we can close on the Braves(Cobb) land in record time but will not pre-treat the roads before a winter storm. I am sure the auto insurers are also quite disenchanted with DOT as well considering the costs they have accrued today...of course they are bloodsuckers and they have huge profit margins. Gotta quit rambling tonight.

I left the office in Perimeter/Sandy Springs at 12:15. Got on 285 and it was already bad so I figured I'd get off on Roswell Road and take the back roads home that I normally take. I figured I'd have better luck. Boy was I wrong. Just walked in the door a little while ago. Total time: 8 hours 55 minutes from door to door. WORST DAY OF MY LIFE.

I crossed the Northlake bridge over 285 and decided to try 29 north instead of I85 north due to traffic on 285...big mistake compounded by a wrong turn that fortunately led me back to where I started...took 285 to I85 north and made it home in an hour and a half....very lucky today.

I made it from chamblee to rockmart in record time 9.5 hours and every round about way possible. 78.9 miles on the ODO.....usually 59-62 mile trip......UNREAL.. My company will be lucky to make payroll with this level of incompetency in getting these roads prepped. FAIL FAIL> FAIL FAIL FAIL. DOT= Doodling On Trucks........

I saw salt trucks in Cherokee county when I picked up the kids at noon. However, the hwy 140 and Arnold Mill Road intersection was a disaster. It was a major gridlock choke point with a hill. No assistance was there. It took my wife 6 hours to get past it. They eventually closed the road.
FYI hwy 140 is a heavy corridor between Cherokee and Fulton Co.

i agree that the majority of the people stranded were not prepared for today. But then again, nobody expected to be stranded for up to 8 hours because there wasn't any salt or sand on the roads.
So, what the hell is the dot for then? What are the state and county road departments for? Why were schools even open today?could they not have prepared better also? Ironic thread you say?

I went to southern tech in 1984. Big snow that year. Not many problems because the leaders told every one to stay home the day before it started. Common Sense people. The movie Idiocracy is coming true!
