Everyone please read!

I've found it rather entertaining. Scrolling through Gunbroker and the classifieds I have thought about offering up my AR for trade. I'd really like a Silver Pigeon or SV10 over and under. Until this week, I thought they were out of my price range...

Are you that keep throwing that gouge word around so self centered that you think someone here or anywhere else owes you something?

The world doesn't owe you a damned thing. If you don't like the price go home! I haven't sold a thing, but if I were to list something today it would be at today's price.

Why should I sell you something for $15.00 when I can easily get 3 times that today? Let me answer that for you. I shouldn't and surely wouldn't now. Not after reading all this whining about capitalism working. Prices go up during peak demand, demand lowers prices will too.

The government schools have ruined ya'll. You don't understand economics 101.

I may be keeping a list of whiners that don't appreciate the free market values that built this nation. It's their stuff, if you want it today pay today's price. If you want to wait a while you may save a buck, but you may also pay more down the road.

Those people selling today are betting today's prices are good and they're willing to part with what you want at today's price. What will they do when they sell out and can't get anymore? What will replacement inventory cost when it does become available?

A bunch of children whining about gouging. My handle is "chuckdog", add me to your ignore list today.

Thank You, Thank You very much! Carry On....

Amen, chuckdog! As a new member I have to say that all the whining about prices made me lose a little respect for this community. However, Steve's willingness to step in and call a spade a spade made my estimation of him go WAY up.

I belong to several of these type of shooting or hunting related forums. A few I enjoy....most I don't. The ones I end up leaving quickly or visiting the least are the ones where a few old, grouchy people with thousands of posts treat newbie's with sarcasm and "look down their noses" at them like they are trash. I guess that's ok if the purpose of the forum is to give a few a...holes a private chat room. That's one of the things I liked about this forum was Steve's rules keeping the sarcastic comments out of the for sale ads.

I am adding all the whiners to my ignore list and people like OS and chuckdog to my friends list, if they will have me. If people whine about these prices now they will probably be the ones who would whine about a gun's condition even after you described it to them and put up a hundred pictures.

Somebody asking top dollar for something does not hurt anyone in any way...IF YOU THINK IT'S TOO HIGH DON'T BUY IT. Who knows what's going to happen in the future....in a year or two we can all chuckle if prices drop back down...or we can kick ourselves in the a.. for not buying now!

Greed is not dividing this community.....envy is.

I'm becoming a supporter, Steve, because of your stand on this issue....

I'd love to know how many new members have signed up in the last week. It appears the vast majority of these overpriced panic ridden posts for AR's and PMAG's are from new members looking for a quick buck. Although I've put them on my ignore list and will not chose to do business with them, like OS said, they have every right to ask any price they want. They're only looking for profit, not to join a great community and be a active participant. Once the dust settles, they too will be gone.

To be honest:

I'm only here for the great deals on guns. I like you guys and all, and have met some great guys who I enjoy engaging in conversations with. That said, I am not here to make friends. If the deals go away, I will to.

I have a life outside of the ODT and personally I don't see myself as part of the "community" here. I'm just a bald fat guy who likes loud things and who has the attention span of a goldfish. The ODT helps me cope with my compulsive tendencies and my inability to.........****, forgot where I was going with that.

Sure would be nice if we (ODT community) stood up against the bull**** gougers and let them take heat for gouging...

Do you pay 3+ dollars a gallon for gas? Why, it's only worth .89 cents. Demand changes value. Deal with it, grow and pair and stop acting like a whining 6th grade girl. Good lord man.

Poor example dude. There is no more artificially manufactured price than oil. Maybe diamonds.

There is nothing organic about the pricing of oil.

The point is, what is a gallon of gas worth? It is worth whatever people are paying for it correct? A Colt 6920 may have only been 1100 LAST week, but this week you cannot find one under 2000 dollars. Does that mean that people are paying more than a 6920 is worth? No, it means people are paying what they cost NOW. 6 months from now, the value may come down, or it may go up, or it may become completely unavailable. The fact of the matter is, if you want one NOW, you are going to have to be willing to pay at least as much as other people are clearly willing to pay.

Unlike gas, current AR prices are being set by what people are willing to pay. Price it too high, people won't buy it. Price is too low, someone will buy it and resell it for market value while making a nice profit.
