I don’t think my Dad ever touched me. He didn’t have to. I could tell by the tone of his voice when to STFU. Now Mama, her weapon of choice was a wire handled fly swatter and that SOB hurt. Bad.

Yep….we got the belt if we screwed up bad enough. Otherwise it was restriction or something.
If we deserved it (to which we did…many of times !) we were made to bend over the couch or bed or something and got whipped with the belt !!
I didn’t whip my child but I say we damned sure deserved everything we got….if not more !! I don’t hold any ill will towards my parents at all for punishment.
