My mom raised 7 children and is an accomplished cook. Her pies are legendary, blackberry cobbler being my favorite (mandatory vanilla ice cream), pecan, pumpkin and even Chess pie. All are to die for.

Grew up in the 'Upcountry' of South Carolina. Tater pie is number one, with a pee-can pie a close second! Never knew there was such a thing as a pumkin pie till I was nearly grown (can't stand them). The one doing the research must've been somewhere in the Low Country gettin' their preference info.
