and then spent 8 million $ of taxpayer money (in today's $) blaming it on the only solid hit that they got ( a Silvertip jhp 9mm that went thru his brackial artery and one lung). He was hit 11x, but most of those were buckshot pellets thru his feet, fired under the car by Mirules. One rd hit his back, but had hit a car first, so it didn't penetrate more than 1" or so. the last 3 hits were to his head and neck, by mirules, at 5 ft or so, as he sat there, unarmed, bled out, helpless. None of the 6 shots fired at the robber's heads, which had to first pierce glass, was able to pierce their skulls. 158 gr plus p lhp's, from a 4" barrel from 4-6 ft away. both were killed by bullets that deflected down into their necks. Matix was hit, early one, by sucn a bullet, from a 2" barrel, full to the face, no barrier-first, but the bullet did not pierce his skull, and he later managed to stagger over to where Platt as trying to escape in the cop car.

I recently attended a presentation by Ed Mireles. He was one of the agents involved and the one who ended the fight.

He clears up a lot of misconception about the whole thing to include crime scene photos and his explaining things. It’s an excellent study on memory formation under stress.

For instance, he only consciously remembers firing four rounds with his shotgun, but there are five empties at his position.

He has written a book as well.
