Finally got scammed

After all these years, the ODT scammers got me.

I saw a RMR HD for a great price, the seller had great feedback and had actual post engagement in other threads.

Little did I know the account was hacked by another party and I was likely talking to someone in India or Nigeria.

Apparently the guy got several other people for the same item before he was banned. Sucks, lesson learned I guess. Be careful out there.

How did you get scammed? Did you ship him something and the payment was bad?

Don't. It's not their fault. It happened to me awhile back. Somehow or the other someone hacked my account and locked me out and then posted some things for sale. My inbox started blowing up with PM's about things I didn't have for sale. I quickly realized what was going on and texted someone who PM'd an admin and they locked the person out of my account and I recovered it.

It happens, guys. Change your passwords often, mkay?

This is a great time to talk about two-factor authentication, which is available here on ODT. You can set it up to email you when you login to verify it is you, or scan a QR code and add it to an authenticator app like google authenticator on your phone.

I recommend it, as it will prevent most hacks of your account if you accidently have your account credentials leaked. If anyone needs help setting this up, let me know!
