This is a great time to talk about two-factor authentication, which is available here on ODT. You can set it up to email you when you login to verify it is you, or scan a QR code and add it to an authenticator app like google authenticator on your phone.

Don't. It's not their fault. It happened to me awhile back. Somehow or the other someone hacked my account and locked me out and then posted some things for sale. My inbox started blowing up with PM's about things I didn't have for sale. I quickly realized what was going on and texted someone who PM'd an admin and they locked the person out of my account and I recovered it.

This exactly. The most common cause is use of the same username and password on multiple sites. That info gets caught up in a data breach somewhere, and it's very simple to use that info everywhere else. They're also the hardest scammers to catch before someone gets got, because the account is a legit one.

The best things you can do to protect your account is don't use the same username and passwords on multiple sites, change passwords regularly, and use two factor authentication where possible.

As a buyer, if the price is too good to be true, it most likely is. And for at least the millionth time don't send funds to people you don't personally know.

Yeah, that's a tough one. I can't believe a lot of the scams I've seen people fall for on here, but that one could get any one of us.

Guys, for the love of God, stop sending money to people you don't know. Right now the hot item seems to be optics, but whatever it is when it's priced well below market and they want Zelle, or Paypal F&F, cashapp, etc., even if it is a well established member WALK AWAY. The one Tactical Taco is talking about just happened Friday, and there's another one today.

One major red flag to look for is an account that hasn't posted anything in years but suddenly has crazy good deals. That is very likely someone who's had their account info stolen elsewhere and it's being used to try and scam people with an established account here.

What is it about the outdoor trader that makes people in another country consider hacking this type of platform I wonder
