First Day Without Beer...

I never craved or even ate sweets when I was drinking. When I quit, I began craving sweets. I already drank diet sodas/colas, and unsweetened tea so that's what I continue to drink. I wish you the very best in your endeavor to better yourself. You will feel much better as I do.

Licker's quicker.GLWNB I quit 22 years ago,ain't saved a dime or lost any weight.

I quit drinking 6 years ago. I wish I quit 25 years earlier. No AA, but AA works for some people. I don't believe their success rate is any better or worse than medical intervention. There are a lot of people still alive because of AA.

It sounds like you would be better off without alcohol. Quitting profoundly changed my life. I used to love to drink. It was fun. My life is now somewhat less fun, but infinitely less self destructive. I wish I could just have a few once in a while, I am very jealous of those people. But I can't.

I have never been much of a drinker. I will have a little drink from time to time, I just don't have the taste for it.

Well it's almost the end of the first day. I just noticed that there was 1 Natural Light in the fridge that I missed last night. I'm gonna see how long it can sit there. But as I mentioned earlier, without 6 to 8 more to go with it I don't want it. Going Krogering in the morning and I plan to pick up lots of different drinks. But mostly bottled water and club soda. I love club soda with lime. Carbonation is what I need. And I don't like Coke/Pepsi products.
Anyway, thanks for suggestions and support. And feel free to check back in anytime.

I usually drink craft beer/higher gravity beers. Especially this time of year stouts and porters and winter warmers. The one by terrapin Cinnamon Rolld Wake n Bake comes in at 9.3% alcohol, so no you will NOT be drinking 8-10 of those bad boys. Matter of fact I had two and I was finished with the evenings entertainment or I was about to become the entertainment.

But good luck with your endeavor. I need to cut back on them too cause I've noticed since I quit smoking I'm packing on the pounds.

replaced it with sweet tea to start with but ended up with hot tea, there are hundreds of them and it is great trying a bunch of different ones, let me know if you need any recommendations for starters

salada green tea is the best imo
it's strong enough but not too strong, i find most commercial tea bags at he store are weak

and the best way i have found to stop drinking so much is have expensive taste, it makes you think about whether you should save that shot of whiskey for another time

I tried the Bud Light Platinum and the Black Crown. Bitter as hell and I need a Goody Powder with them. I've had folks give me them high octane craft beers here and there. I aint found one I can stand.
I'm glad I never took up cigarettes. I smoked GOOD cigars in the early/mid 90s. But I had to have Black Label and Glinlivet to go with them. I threw away a lot of money in the 90s. I just figured it up earlier. At $25.00 a week in beer which is a conservative estimate, I'm pissin away $1300.00 a year. And that's not a fortune. I know people that spend 3 times that annually. BUT I don't have any income right now. So this behavior is irresponsible on my part. If I had done this last January I'd have the money to pay rent/deposits on a place in Brunswick,St.Mary's or Yulee and I could get the hell out of middle GA.
So I guess there is more than one motivation for the same goal.
