Last Friday I finally took my first deer with one of my hand loads. Even though I have been hunting for a very long time, I had decided this year that I would hunt only with my own rounds. She is definitely a big azz doe ...B.A.D. As it turned out, at 144 pounds, she ended up being the heaviest doe that had EVER been brought to the cooler. I shot her with a Tikka 6.5 Swede with a 135 grain Berger Classic Hunter. Since she was only about 75 yards, the bullet exited, leaving a quarter sized hole, and everything inside destroyed. Surprisingly, she ran about 75/80 yards, but left a blood trail that Ray Charles could follow. We took our little tracking dog out, just to keep her in practice. Needless to say, all trophies don't have to have horns.
