First time polishing internals...

Hobby Lobby and similar stores sell a small cheap sandpaper pack that contains uncommon grits from 1000 to 12000. I use the 4k, 6K, 8K, and 12K paper for polishing stuff without removing material. Works perfectly on metal or plastic. You can buy the same paper at an auto body supply stores, but you have to buy larger individual packs to get all the various grits.

I like the idea of using some really high grit paper so that I can do everything by hand as I don't have a bench wheel to buff with.
