Older rcbs rockchucker and Redding dies are what you need to start off and you’ll never regret it.
Just stay away from the newer rcbs presses unless there the good ones
And dies ,
That’s a starting point that will never be improved . And good manuals to read and read forums.
Oh almost forgot a good “a&d brand “ scale for accurate powder measurements.

Most important thing “pay once and cry only once”

What is your goal for reloading? Jut want to learn? Save money? Extreme precision for exotic target shooting? I ask because that will help narrow down the answers.

Really helps to find a reloader located close to you that can show you the ropes.

If you are not trying to load ammo for extreme target shooting then much of the advice, youtube videos, etc. are over kill and will suggest $$$ equipment.

The goals are to load both inexpensive target ammo as well as better precision rounds .(Both)
And to gain the skill of reloading .

I like my Rockchucker press.
Slow but dependable, loads great ammo , can easily handle rifle cartridges and pistol. Over 45 years and still going strong. Unless you are going to be loading hundreds of rounds at a time it is great. Even later if you load big quantity it will serve you well just slower than a progressive yet less expensive. RCBS has also stood behind their powder measure, Uniflow, when the hopper became cloudy.
Yes, calipers are important for case length and overall length checking. Case trimmer isn't an immediate requirement but if you start with a kit setup you can decide later if you must have one.
Depends greatly on the quantity you plan to shoot or if you just want to be able to load when you desire.
At least one quality loading manual, Lyman, is required reading/reference too.

Looking to get started reloading.
What all is mandatory to reload 308 ? Manual Press calipers scales case trimmer ?
What would be a good first press ?
. I may throw in a few more calibers once I get going.
I’ve seen some killer deals on here in the last week. A couple were combos with everything you need.

I need fo find one of those deals set up for 308 . But wouldn't be opposed to 243 5.56 9 357 38 even 20 gauge or 410 but I am mainly looking at 308..
