FJ40 resto with Atak Defense.

I left my FJ40 with Betuel and the guys at Atak Defense in Gainesville. Originally I wanted to tune up the old 350 shortblock and fix some wiring. The engine wasnt running on all cylinders and the wiring was really, really bad.

We decided to find a LS junkyard 5.3 and swap it out. They found a rebuilt 2021 L6.0 at a junkyard with low miles and good compression. New polished aluminum radiator, new polished aluminum gas tank, power sterring upgrade, brakes and new wiring harness front to back.

I couldnt be happier with the result. The FJ is rowdy for sure and the magnaflow exhaust has a stock car sound when I stand on it. The guages and lights all work perfectly.

Do you have an old FJ you are restoring?

2021 rebuilt 6.0 was $3k (junkyard find) plus labor. I had budgeted $1.5k for a used LS5.3, but the 6.0 was a good find.

If you are looking to price out a build, I would have Atak price out something for you rather than going off what I spent.

Bill, thank you for the kind words ! That project was an absolute blast, the final product turned out amazing. We have the dyno on standby for tunning when your ready for more power .
