I have a handful of cheapolo's with the name Torch on them they are fairly bright for all I need. My electricity goes out all the time so I have to keep 4 or 5 placed around the house for when it goes out and I am in complete darkness. I mean up here in the mountains starlite is all you get then so they have to be handy. They are either rechargable or take a lithium rechargeable battery. So I keep extras on the side. I have no reason to see 300 yards in the dark. Looking at the deer in my yard at night is all I need. But I do need one really good one to keep on hand.

Watching these videos on these super bright lights it seems like they run out of juice really quick. I mean why have a super bright light that drops half it's lumens after 10 minutes. I just don't see the logic behind some of those high dollar jobs.

Dude I’m not kidding that little Acebeam tac aa 2.0 is unbelievable for its size and is only about $25 on Amazon right now if you click the coupon.(for some reason on Amazon the black tac AA and also the red is the old version and all the other colors are the 2.0 which is much better). I don’t know if THREEJAYS THREEJAYS has used it yet but he has one too.
I may have to pick up one of those and give it a shot.

You absolutely won’t be disappointed for the price. The modes(6 to choose from) are a bit tricky to get to the mode selection part but after that it’s super simple. Modes as in which interface you want it to have like cycle between low med high turbo, or another that is jus turbo only when turned on etc. once you set it to what you like you don’t have to do it again unless you want to change it.

It’s not that they run out of juice per se, but it has to ramp down to regulate the temp as they get hot. Once you turn it off for a minute it can go back to the brightest setting until it heats up again. Most tactical style flashlights will do that.

What size? I can point you in a good direction depending on what you need it for.

I'd like a flashlight that takes either 2 double AA, or AAA batteries. It doesn't have to be super bright, but decent power. I have found that Surefire flashlights drain the battery when not it use. I call them "vampire" lights and they kill 123 lithium batteries in just a few weeks, and they are ungodly overpriced.

I mainly keep the lights for a standby on the kitchen counter, or by the front door. I also keep a light in the car as well.

Got an old Maglite 4 D-cell that reaches out there. Largest one that'll fit in my nightstand drawer.
Just checked it, batteries have a 2004 date, little dim, still working fine.
Better get new ones before winter.
Also need to check the battery lanterns.

Once again the acebeam tac aa 2.0 runs off one AA but comes with a rechargeable one. They also make a Tac 2 AA that is twice the size and maybe a little brighter. But for pretty much anyone use they would ever need that standard tac aa is crazy bright.
Currently $25 after clicking on the $5 coupon beneath it. The newest version(2.0) is the blue, tan and orange one. The others are the old version.
Edit: the $5 coupon disappeared so it’s $29.99 and still well worth it.

I never had a problem with the Streamlight, but I always kept that in mind. Never ran it that long and kept the battery charged. I did start having some charging issues. But I was given a replacement. The flashlight was used when I got it. It was @ $200 flashlight at the time
