For 1911 fans only... your favorite flavor?

Lightweight full size or Commander with some decent iron sights.
Wouldn’t mind trying a bobtail.
Absent that, I like the old arched mainspring housing for my hand.
Checkered or stippled front strap.
Standard safety and slide release work for me.
Beveled mag well.
Don’t need/want light mount, ambi safety or mag release. No goofy hooked or square trigger guard, no two-tone or cerakote finish. No extended beavertail, I got small hands, never been hammer bit.
Some nice custom grips, preferably Sambar stag or ivory.

WWII usgi Colt a2 model  in .45 of course.

I knew there was one person out there who likes .38 Super. :becky: Why do you prefer that cartridge?
Ballistics, reliability in the 1911 platform, and nostalgia.

If I can push a 115gr bullet at 1500fps, then I don't really need 9mm as even +p+ won't do that.

I totally understand the whole 9mm 1911 thing. It's light recoiling, and holds more that a 45 ACP.

But, the same capacity in 9 is available in 38 Super, but the Super has far better performance in every single category.

Plus these days it is way cheaper to shoot 38 Super rather than 9.
Box of 115gr HP from federal cost 39.99 for 50.
That's what some people charge for 9mm FMJ.
