For 1911 fans only... your favorite flavor?

I have always been partial to long slide in 10 mm. My self done Remington R1 Hunter. Everything but the frame and slide which is stainless cerekoted is Wilson Combat bullet proof parts.

I only have two 1911s.

I got a USMC decommissioned M45A1. That one I just keep NIB.

Then my shooter 1911 is a Dan Wesson Wraith in 10mm.

Was thinking of adding a Dan Wesson Elite Fury in 9mm, but they are really hard to find. Last one I saw was about 1.5yrs ago for 5K.

I posted an earlier thread about Al Capone's 1911 being auction off soon. That got me to thinking, what is the ODT's favorite flavor of 1911-style handgun?

Not so much brand (no Springfield flame wars), but what features would your ideal 1911 have? Or maybe you do have a specific model in mind.

Government, commander, or officer frame? .45, .38 Super, or 9mm? Steel or alloy? Black, FDE or stainless? Light rail or non-rail? Ambidextrous safety or single side safety? Front cocking serrations or rear serrations only? Threaded barrel or recessed crown? So many options...

So first, one I'd like to get some day is a Colt M45A1 (USMC surplus or commercial model, either one).

That said, my other fav has always been a bobtail commander size 1911 in 9mm, such as the Dan Wesson Guardian. But you've GOT to change the grips out for G10s... not the slippery wooden ones it comes with.

First of all. 1911s do not require adjustable rear sights or ambidextrous safeties.

That's pretty much all I got.

Oh damn! Where do I start? Well first of all to ME a 9mm 1911 is just WRONG and a waste of time. Now I will give a pass to the Star BM models since they were very handy and USED TO BE cheap. For my personal taste the only way to go in a 1911 is 45ACP or 10mm as my wild card. I'm not a 9mm hater and own a few. But I just feel like if you wanna go 9 there are way better choices that hold at least twice as many rounds.
Rails? No definitely not on MY 1911. Ambi safety extended slide release, flat mainspring housing, flared magwell etc? Yes please. I'll take all that. As for brands, I really don't care. I've owned a Colt Series 80 a Caspian custom Commander and now a cheap ATI Commander. Aside from fit and fiinish and maybe the quality of the bluing I don't see a lot of difference. But with all that being said I have never owned a Gucci 1911, well not a factory built model anyway.
As long as we were discussing Capone's 1911 google up a pic of Clyde Barrow's 1911 with the Thompson MG foregrip attached to it. Pretty sure that was the inspiration for the NFA rule about foregrips on pistols.
