Good call! I flipped the NS up on the FSB to insure it was there but sadly was so excited about everything else I didn't go into a good inspection. I was just thinking about that a few days ago I would love to have some new tritium in there popping.

On the hunt now!Great news! Get some top loading drums. These angle forward for more ground clearance and are a real military item. There are Yugo versions of these, but they are rare. Most are Romanian and a few Russians that probably came in with Romanian stuff. It has been said that the Chinese pattern AK drum was a commercial endeavor. These work fine though. The angled ones are much more "military grade".

It is a bit of a pickle to get the one out on the flip sight, and you might need to drill it a bit bigger to fit or even get it out. The clip on is easy, as you just push it out then use a drop of superglue/ red locktight to secure it. Since you are having it built, might as well have them put it in there.

I'm a bit skeptical of removing and inserting trikum vials myself though not sure if the concern is warranted or just based on the general fear of radioactive material?

I'm hunting those top loading drums time meow
They weren't that bad, just not as rounded over as I'd like them to be. It was enough to hold the rear trunion but nowhere near enough to match the other side. Keep in mind this is the rivets that I did myself. There's three long rivets that are a pain as you have to shape the head on the opposite side. One on the front trunion, and two on the rear. The rest are short and just are crushed flat (I used a riveting jig and a 12 ton press).
It will be short like the one you had pictured, but with the folding stock eventually. I'm waiting on the receiver to come in before I can build it. For this one I went with a nitride coated barrel from ak-builders, and the receiver from Recreator Blanks. It will have a fighter muzzle break from Robski (ak operators union) and a generic side rail scope mount. Its an older kit and has a painted on night sight, so I'll probably change that out.
Far as removing the tritium vial, you just get a sharp knife and push/pry it out. Soak it in solvent if needed to loosen it up. Then, if needed, drill the hole out a little larger and put the new one in (it just slides in) and put a drop of super glue gel/epoxy on top.
Awesome! Good on them, sometimes it pays off to ask.
