The ranger has a yanmar diesel. Easy to work on, loads of torque. It's a work machine not a speed demon. Tops out around 38-40mph on smooth ground. Pulls a 22' flat bed around the farm if I need it to. Does well in water up to about 3' w/o a snorkel. Only issue has been fuel intake line inside the tank, it gets gummed up at times and needs to be cleaned, buts that's diesel, my bobcat has same issue when the diesel sits for 6 months or so without additive. I feel there are more aftermarket parts and accessories for the ranger than there are the mule. My brother has a mule. My ranger will put pull it and ride away better. The mule has a better payload.
