I like. Any idea what kind of wood and the finish applied? I suppose I could sand and seal with something suitable for food prep if necessary. Thanks.

That looks about 1 and 3/4 thick from over here. Even better.

That top edge in the picture has a lip attached. Otherwise the thickness is 3/4".
It's tree wood. No finish that I can see.
