FRAMING A HOUSE ! $10.00 A FOOT! WOW! WTH

Did you decide to just order material and you and your guys knock it out? If they volunteer and y’all can do it that will save a lot of money. Count yourself lucky if you have five guys willing to give you 2-3 days of skilled labor. That is something to be grateful for
Well, as you will know, I’m on duty at the Shepherd Center with my son! Which is a requirement in order for him to be here! So once this passes and I have some time of my own, I hope that I can make it happen!
But just think about it, cut all your studs, make all your header’s, cut your jacks and your cripples, make up your corners, 10 of the windows are all the same so all that material can be pre-cut for each opening!
Walls should be pretty easy, even if you don’t have help, make them in 20 foot sections!
Setting the truss requires a little more manpower!

Unless y'all have done this before, I don't think you realize how hard of work this is. Plus these days, the building codes are a lot more strict than they used to be. Generally, you have to have an engineer sign off on everything. The actual profit is usually @ 10-11% on the whole project. You mess anything up, you could easily spend that trying to fix it

Yeah, building inspectors are just guys with a little book knowledge never done any work, but if you buy in the right county, you don’t have to pull a license. Don’t have to have some communist permission to do what you’re gonna do that you’re gonna pay for they have no input on Your money or your life and it’s really not hard work.

Good on you about the hard work. I can tell you after a day framing I couldn't hardly hold my head up long enough to eat dinner. Then I'd fall asleep before I could get to bed. Wake up the next morning stiff as a board and do it all over again. Wallowing around in the mud, working in whatever the weather is. Rain, sleet, snow, hot or cold. Then walking around on the roof wrestling with 4x8 sheets of plywood by yourself and your ankles, feet, knees and back killing you. After 40yrs there was never a time I didn't have an injury I was dealing with

Sounds like we are twins are retired from the carpenters local 225 busted everything there is to bust and that’s one of the reasons that I feel so bad today is from working hard your whole life, but your mind still won’t slow down when you retire, I still need something to do Right now. I’m being blessed with being at the Shepherd Center with my son who needs me desperately right now.

Good on you helping your family. I'm sure you'd rather not for the reasons you are. I know that's tough.
I was never in a union. Worked for a slave driver. Nothing was ever good enough. He was an engineer though. At least I never had to chase him down on payday. It was a hard life mentally and physically. Been retired 5 1/2 yrs. now. I work from home on the computer all day. Better than working for someone else

Yeah, I wish I was more computer savvy. I would do something from home.
