French Style ISIS Attack, in Georgia?

Sorry, but that's total bull****. You can quite easily purchase firearms, and suppressors can be purchased over the counter like a hamburger.

Prices are a bit high, especially with the weakening Euro. I saw Remington 700 SPS's for $1k, and Winchester 94's for $800-950. Cans went from $50-250 on average.

If this site is correct it's not as easy as you make it sound http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/france but there are lots of registered firearms owned by civilians, despite the complex laws and registration.

It's not very complex at all, but I guess that's subjective. After you have your paperwork in order it takes about the same amount of time that it does if you go to AO and try to buy a gun. You can receive different classifications of permits for different classes of weapons, kind of like it is here but with more strata. It's not really much more complicated than it is in the US if you want a CCW license.

It's certainly a far cry from "The French government doesn't allow their citizens to own guns".

There ARE complex laws in France and carrying a handgun is a no go unless you meet certain rules/regs for that kind of permit but I guarantee it is far easier than New Jersey or Washington DC. And suppressors are almost encouraged.

I climbed in the attic of someone I was invited to dine with when I was there in the military. They had multiple fully automatic weapons and a ton of ammo.....all illegal and this was a senior military persons home. "I will never allow what happened during the occupation to occur again".

Shotguns and 22's are easy to get and like Laufen said suppressors are sold at the local hardware store. The American fear of quiet guns WTF is that. (and I am a proud Gringo)

Supressors are even REQUIRED in some cantons, due to hunting and shooting near populated areas. It's simply disrespectful to blast at targets all day 200 meters from your neighbors house un-suppressed.

I was at a gun shop in Aix-en Provence and the proprietor kept trying to sell me a .22 supressor because I told him I didn't have one. He was insistent I buy one to protect my hearing. When I told him they were highly regulated in the US he laughed and asked if condoms were highly regulated as well. lol

Exactly. Been back as a visitor but have not lived there since the 80's.

What would happen if you were walking to your office, or meeting family, or running to the store and you saw two masked men jump out of a car with AK's and open fire on a police officer?

what would you do?

what if you were on your roof having a ciggerette and saw it from your walled elevated position? (like the guy that filmed the incident)

go.
Honestly, against two foes armed with semi automatic rifles, I'm not sure that I would engage them with my EDC pistol unless they turned on me. I have a family to care for. I'm not saying that I would be unconcerned about others being harmed or that I wouldn't *want* to do something. But I would be very concerned about my ability to survive an encounter where I was seriously outgunned.

That sentiment is awesome.

no doubt man....especially since you can easily tell from the videos that these guys were not avg joes with AK's. This was well planned and executed. 1 guy with a CC pistol vs 2 trained guys with AK's is a losing battle 9.9:10 times

C'mon Laufen, if you're going to "qoute" something and then call it "bull****" then please be accurate.

I never said "The French government doesn't allow their citizens to own guns". I said "Paris could be considered the ultimate "gun free zone". French citizens are prohibited by their government from arming, and thus the right to protect themselves (and others) from such attacks".

My personal ignorance aside because I don't live in France, I understood private possession of handguns (pistols and revolvers) is prohibited with only narrow exemptions. I also understood that it is not legal for the average citizen to carry handguns or Remington 700's and Winchester 94's in Paris. Yes, average citizens can own firearms, they just can't carry them around Paris, thus they are unarmed.

If I am wrong, then I stand corrected.
