This gun started life as a run of the mill Marlin 30AW, which meant it was basically a 336 with cheap hardwood stocks that was sold exclusively at Wally World. When I bought it, it was wearing an old 4x El Paso Weaver. After a few years, I decided to customize it a little. Here are the improvements that I made:
The scope is a Leupold FX-II 2.5x28mm IER Scout. Leupold recently discontinued it, so I have seen these scopes in good condition sell for $500 on eBay. The scope is like new. I have the box and docs for it, and I will also include a neoprene Leupold cover. If you want the whole package, I will include the ammo that it is sighted in for (15 rounds of Federal 125 gr) and a gun case, and you could hunt with it tomorrow. I killed a deer with the last time I had it out.
As you can see in the pics, it is JM stamped.
The only real imperfection is the finish. The blueing is worn in places. There’s a light freckling on the receiver. The bottom metal has taken on a bit of a brown patina. When I cut and recrowned the muzzle, I used cold blue on the muzzle, and it came out a bit thin and blotchy.
I need cash out of the deal, but I do have a few partial trade interests.
- Leupold or Meopta 6x42.
- Zeiss 4x32.
- Swarovski Z3.
- Decent Binoculars ($500-750 range).
$1,275 for the gun, scope, ammo, and case.
$925 for the gun without scope, ammo, or case.
- Shortened barrel to 16.5”
- Added XS Sights Lever Rail
- Installed WWG Happy Trigger Kit and Bear Proof Ejector
- Swapped cheap factory stocks for a set of Boyd’s stocks in pepper laminate with laser engraved scale pattern
