Item Description: Fine condition WWII German 98K Mauser rifle in 8mm that is coded 42 on the receiver for the Mauser Oberndorf factory and dated 1939. This great looking rifle is NOT 100% matching however all of the bolt matches itself 100% and the rest of the rifle matches itself 100%. Perhaps it’s true that the soldiers picked up a rifle from one pile and a bolt from another after surrender.
Clear Luftwaffe Eagle L proof mark in the right side butt stock. This Vet bring back rifle (see duffle cut behind 2nd band) is NOT import marked and is complete with original cleaning rod and repro sling.
Never had a front sight hood in 1939. Metal finish is a pleasing original blue with just a little wear to gray on the edges and some turning plum brown, bore is bright and excellent. Flat butt plate laminated stock has many clear Eagle 866 Waffenampts, a matching serial number, the Eagle L proof mark and a few normal handling marks.
I understand it's very tough to find any Luftwaffe marked 98K Mauser especially one that is all original.
Only trade interests are Glock 29 (10mm) and Spikes Tactical AR-15. All other trade offers will be ignored.
