g26 vs g19 for concealed carry

View attachment 261379

...that just looks too long to me...

That is what my wife said last night...

I prefer the ergonomics of a gun with a short grip so that it does not print when I am carrying it IWB, but I prefer the longer sight radius and increased barrel length for added velocity and stopping power. Sounds good to me at least.

I would carry a 17 if I could pull it off but that extra half inch of grip just makes it print a bit too much certain times of the year. I could easily carry the chopped 17 as an extra 1/2" in barrel length doesn't affect concealability.

LOL! I know you be lieing cuz you called her your wife. Once you marrying them they stop saying stuff like that. :p

Now I prefer the gun have more grip(and subsequent capacity) and less barrel sticking down in my drawers or hanging down, peeking out from under a **** tail. That's why the 1911 Commander is as popular as it is. Grip and capacity of the gubmint model with a shorter nose. And that's why I like the G23 over the 22 and the 27 best of all. With the 27 you can always shove a 22 mag in the well if need be. In fact, when I carry my 27, I carry two G22 mags in a pocket holster to back it up. Well, they also fit my KelTec Sub2000 and if it all goes to hell, I can donate one to a LEO to put out a fire...fight. ;)

My first gun was a 5" 1911 which was too long (for me) but I found the 4 1/4" Commander to be perfect lengthwise & "balanced". It approximates the barrel length of either the 17 or 19.
The 26/27 is closer to the Officers Model 1911.

Yep. I was EDCing the Sig Ultra Nitron, but the 7 round mag left me feeling a tad nekkid, even with two 8 rounders for backup. So now I'm EDCing a Para P12 with 2 P14 mags back(41 rounds of 45 ACP at my finger tips. :) ). Officer size fat bottom gal with a heap of lead to sling. Still smaller grip than a Glock 30S and higher capacity too. Damn I likes it. ;)

Phew... sounds heavy. As long as you don't mind carrying it, nothing wrong with it.

Get the 26if you want to carry iwb. You can always put a grip extension and bigger magazines to make it almost the size of the 19 (or 17) but you can't make the 19 smaller.
Unless you plan to get both I guess...

I have found the best way to make a 19 easier to carry is to carry a 17 for a few days. Likewise a 26 feels small after carrying a 19.
