I still detest the idea that county commissioners all the sudden are going to have to put in security. The criminals carrying in those buildings now don't bother them, but let a law-abider carry in there......police state!

Jerry Henry is with GeorgiaCarry.org, the lead group that lobbied state lawmakers to pass the gun bill. He said his group will continue to push for that provision. And thatâs because licensed gun owners want to see uniform rules for carrying firearms on private property.
âWe donât want to have to guess if itâs legal or illegal to bring a gun somewhere,â he said. âThere are still lots of âgotchaâ places in the law.â
As for lobbying next year for the campus carry provision, thatâs part and parcel of GeorgiaCarryâs mission.
âWe ask for what we want, we take what we can get, and we come back for more,â Henry said. âSix to eight years ago, there were very few places you carry a gun in Georgia.â
With Henryâs help, thatâs changed. Under the new bill, schools would have the option of deciding if teachers or administrators should be armed. The state would have to report within 10 days Georgiansâ involuntary commitments to hospitals.
