I’ve been shooting every day that it’s not raining and will most likely do so until the season opens. I haven’t touched my compound yet, my recurves have been getting all of the attention. I’m getting some wood arrows tipped with Bear Razorheads worked up for my 45# Browning bow and Easton FMJ’s or Gold Tip carbons with 190 grain Tree Sharks for the Hoyt. I probably shot at least 200 times today between both bows and will keep at that pace until the opener.

190 grain Tree Sharks, 2” wide cut. Total arrow weight
is a tad over 600 grains.

Hey bud if you turn your block on it’s side where the foam inserts are vertical your target will last a heck of a lot longer. They wrote it really small on that tag on the top. Wish I would have seen it before I shot 2 of them out myself. That will be a heck of a feeling sticking one with a traditional bow! Best of luck to you

Thanks, if I do stick one, it’ll be my third ever. I’ve killed 2 does with trad bows, never had a chance to shoot a buck. Any buck with antlers is in trouble if we cross paths.
I’ll be sure to look into the deal with turning the block target.

Go get em.
Do any practice from trees yet?
Not yet, I’m still getting accustomed to the bows and making the final tweaks on some arrows. Once I get all of that squared away, I’ll be shooting from a stand.

My longbow arrived today.
It’s a 62” Martin/Howatt Savannah Stealth, 55# @ 28” draw. It came with a Flemish twist string and a half-dozen arrows.

I put a new 8125 string on my Dorado and readjusted the brace height. It took a little while to get it back in tune, but it’s shooting worlds better now. I managed to get the bow a lot quieter and even more forgiving than before. I added a clicker to it to help me stay consistent with my anchor point. My groups shrunk big time!
