I had a discussion with a close friend about concealed carry pistols. He conceal carries an FN 45. Yes, that huge 15 round 45 tactical pistol.

The problem is that I don't want to wear jeans or cargo pants and shorts and a loose fitting tee shirt all the time. Sometimes I like to dress up, tuck in my shirt tail, wear long sleeves, wear a vest, etc. In those instances, I can't hide a large gun very well. The pocket pistols like the LC9 are great for those times when you want to be adequately armed but not make a fuss about it.

Don't over look the Khar pistols. I've had only a few ladies not do well with the K9, it's all stainless so there is enough weight to tame recoil, the trigger is long and smooth and the grip will fit the folks that can't get a correct grip on the larger pistols.

I see a lot of ladies come in with the G26, XD's and small wheel guns that a man bought them and the gun doesn't fit or they don't like the recoil. We hand them one of the Kahrs we have and they fall in love.

The best answer to your question is, get here what she shoots the best. Take here to a range and get in the rental cabinet. Rent every 9MM that fits her hand (try the fit at the counter with help from an employee that knows what they're doing) and choose from there.

Good Luck

Thank you for all the replies and the funny comments, I'm still reading through them all. I'm not sure how she plans on carrying it, we are going to try to find somewhere to rent the XD's, SR9C's, and possibly an LC9.

I also want that Mosin pistol!

Pocket pistols are great, but personally I'd rather invest in a different setup before I drop down from the 19. Unfortunately we don't pick the terms or intensity of a fight, which means I want the best possible tool for the job. It's why I shamelessly ordered a ka bar fanny pack for when I'm taking the kids to the park or arcade, skating rink etc. even a 22 naa beats nothing, but personally, I'd rather have my 19. Even if that means wearing a shoulder holster or fanny pack

My wife is carrying a Walther PPK 380 now after carrying a S&W 60 for many years. Both are very accurate and she shoots both well.

I have several I carry at different time, Sig P229, S&W 340M&P, or Keltek 380.
