Glock 19 Gen III Slide Rusting

heh, i've never had one done, but there's people on here that do em for the low i'd imagine. shipping off i'd ballpark a bill.

honestly man if that's what you're concerned about i'd get a better holster or carry owb.

it'd be better to have one that completely seals the gun away from your skin and oil the inside of the holster as well as the gun to prevent it. mine did it mid summer with an open-ish style holster where the barrel stuck out about 1/2" past the holster

Yeah I tried to seal the leather with oil inside where the face of the weapon rubs and also the side that touches my skin...I may have to go back to an entire kydex type system or get a kydex insert to keep the moisture from reaching the weapon. Thanks everyone for the information!

Did you buy it bnib? I never oil my slides, my 23 lived in a bianchi holster. It had deer blood run down it, and just wiped it off with a rag. Never had corrosion issues, I'd take it to glock and complain, tennifer is suppose to be impervious to rust, more than likely they'll replace it.

Yeah I bought it BNIB. I will have to make a trip down the road to Glock. I thought the steel was supposed to be impervious to rust as well. The holster I was using was a leather and kydex holster...would the leather not of been cured properly you think?

Tennifer is the actual process of steel treatment but glock has a finish applied to the gun, the us plant does a piss poor job of refinishing so I wouldn't go that route, like I said, explain what has happened. My 19 and 23 were treated like filthy whores and I never had a probably with rust.

I wonder if you could use waterproofing spray on the leather where it touches your body when carried. I have had that problem with those types of holsters as well, especially after working outside. I'd take the gun out and notice the entire side of the slide is soaked.

leather is the enemy of guns as they naturally attract moisture
