because why not and they dont have to have them
Then just get a Sig P229.
Not a fan of safeties on pistols.
I've had three different Glocks in the past (never a G26). They were all 100% reliable; but I couldn't shoot any of them well, so they are gone. I now own two Taurus G2c pistols. Thus far, they have been totally reliable; and much more accurate (for me) than the Glocks I once owned. One of them has a green laser; and is my carry gun. The other is a car gun for one of my cars. I plan to buy a third one for a second car. I like the idea of having access to three defensive guns that all have the same control system and shoot the same ammo. Were it not for the laser on one of the guns, I would have less than $600 in all three.
I won't try to recommend a gun for someone else; but don't jump to conclusions based on comments from someone who may have never fired a Taurus G2c. Arrange to try both guns for yourself and decide which is best for you.

Neither. Buy a Springfield
G2 is a great gun, those that say otherwise are uneducated. But I wouldn’t consider either the g2 or a Glock 26 as a pocket gun, personally
I disagree, uneducated??? I would say the same for someone that trusts thier life to a Taurus. There are so many more better options out there. Glock, HK, S&W, Ruger, Steyr, Beretta, CZ and others. My life is worth it to spend the extra money to have a better gun. I wonder why police departments don't carry Taurus.

Let's face it, the majority of Taurus guns are CHEAP knockoffs of other manufacturers guns.
