Looking at a new 23/24. What do you guys think? I do tow 8k or so maybe 20 times a year. How’s the reliability.

Thanks for your thoughts fellas

i put 435k on my 05 2500 before i sold it. its still going strong... i put 275k on my 01 3500 with no problems.
the 01 got 18 to 20 mpg stop and go and about 27 hwy. the 05 17 to 18 stop and go and 25 hwy.
i am kinda looking for a 07 1/2 to a 09 with under 150k for my next one.

Have a 2011 2500hd with the lml 370k 17mpg 11 towing 9k#
Also have a 2020 3500hd with the l5p dually 78k 17mpg 10.5-11 towing 9k#
No regrets
Cummins will edge them out on fuel mileage but I love the reliability of the duramax.
I do like Cummins but not a huge Dodge fan.

I suppose you'll like it. Cost more money than a half ton to drive, but you'll have this a lot longer than a light duty truck. I've had mine almost 30yrs and most of that time was a service truck
not really, every one i know who has the half tons, dont get the fuel economy of the diesel. just for apples to apples, a 6.0 in a 1500 gets between 12 and 15 mph. i have a 5.4 titan now and am getting 14 or 15 mph.
plus service intervals on a gasser is more often than a diesel. i did oil changes every 10k on mine and was, like i said earlier i put 435k on it. 2 gallons of rotella and 1/2 gallon of lucas.

I've had small, 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. I'm talking about the entire picture. Insurance, tag, tires ect, ect. All cost involved. If you're talking gas vs gas and so on. Yes I do like diesels, I own one of those too. Actually a car and a truck. Diesels in the same class vs gas usually get 50% better fuel mileage. I've had small 4x4s getting @ 20mpg. The 86 F150 302, 2 wheel drive was around the same. I have two big block 3/4 ton 4x4s, the Ford gets @ 13 in town and 16 hwy. The GMC is less than the Ford. Then I have a Dodge Cummins 5.9 4X4 4 door, gets @ 20+. Gets small truck mileage with big truck performance. Then a 92 Mercedes 300 2.5L, gets 36+ mpg. The gassers, I change the oil every 3k and diesels, every 5k. Miles on vehicles @ 75-80k to nearly 400k and counting
