GMC rant! Government motors refusal to repair an obvious engineering flaw

The gauge cluster went bad on the 03 (common problem) and GM offered extended coverage for this because it is a common problem. Mine was past the coverage offered, so I spent the $125 to have it repaired myself.

Sorry for the derail, but would you mind tellimg me where you got the cluster repaired?

TPMS sensors, the thing that tells you how much air is in your tires, have a battery in them like a watch!! They last 8 to 10 years!!!! about $125 to replace and re program, ask me how I know????

By the way, if you get a Ford. You will be complaining about the plugs blowing out at 100k miles, Coil on Plug skipping, DPFE sensor making your engine ping...

1997-2003 F150's blew spark plugs out of the engines at the owners expense. 2004-2008 F150's have spark plugs break off inside the motor at the owners expense. My F150 has had 18 or 19 spark plugs 4 catalytic converters and 18 or 19 COPS. Honda is the top vehicle for long term reliability and you'd be amazed at the number of recalls on the Odyssey.

Thanks for the info on the gauge cluster. My wife talked to a local shop and they said it would be over $800 to fix.

They are probably going to replace the cluster with a new unit (that's the only way I can think of it costing $800) .

Check out the ebay link I sent ya. You can drive the truck with the cluster removed, it will run fine. Only, you won't have any info regarding the engine, speed or fuel.

If you were local, I could loan you a cluster to use while yours is being fixed. When mine first started acting up, I bought a cluster from a salvage yard. I used it till the original cluster was repaired.

It's easy to remove, just pull the outer cover that's around the dash off, literally "pull" on it, It just snaps on. Then 4 little 7mm screws (one in each corner) and the cluster comes out. no wires or anything. The plug is made into the dash and stays in place.
