The original is a modern masterpiece IMO. According to the article linked and others I read, this will be a prequel and sequel all together. I'd watch it for sure. Personally, I would love to see a prequel to Collateral as that is also one of my personal fav's!

For every 50 failed sequels, there is a Godfather Part 2 or Aliens.

Michael Mann is a very good script writer and director. Gonna have some faith that it will be good. Other than Adam Driver is too tall to play Neil.

BTW, if you liked Heat, and have never watched Thief with James Caan, do yourself a favor. In fact, James Caan's portrayal of the lead character, Frank, in Thief, is a very close facsimile of Neil McCauley.
