Got some steel back in the ground!!

Some years back I had a buddy call and ask if I had a bear trap. I asked what for and unfortunately no. He said he had a guy on trail cam walking his dog/trespassing on his hunting property. Sent me the pic. The guy clearly saw the camera and left. I told him for the love of God man you can’t bear trap a human anymore! This isn’t the 1800s! I told him by the time he got done with the legal fees from the maimed individual he would have wished he never thought of it. Plus the guy could have easily stole the cam since it was an old style on a memory card yet he didn’t. I agree on your part though the kid would have learned a valuable lesson after that!!!
Criminals have more rights than we do. I've always felt that way

How often is a trapper supposed to check the traps? How long would a coyote stay caught in one?
For that matter how long would a neighbor's labrador or golden retriever stay caught in such a trap before the trapper came along to free it?

cool... you ever stick your hand in one and set it off? i bet it feels real good...
like i said, seems cruel...

we play a coin game (there is usually alcohol involved)
each person puts a quarter on the pan until...
it does not break bones, hurts for the rest of the day though if your not quick

There is a healthy pack of them at the hunting property. Quite a bit I will hear them sound off while Im in the stand. I have seen them way more while hunting this season than ever before so I believe their numbers could use a little thinning back. Unfortunately when I see them with a gun in my hand they are trotting through the thicket with no chance of a shot so trapping it is.
