Grandpa’s Hidden Secrets

The embellishment himmler signature ruins the collector value of the pistol.
Yeah it was apparently from what I saw today online a gift from Himmler to Officers.
The exact one Himmler owned Himself was already found and sold for I believe $100,000 so it’s definitely not his personal one but one of his signature gifts lol
I’m planning to hold onto the pistol they are near guns and the original holster can’t be beat amazing combo.

Thank you to those that appreciate my Grandfathers Service he was a tough SOB and never ran from a fight.
I asked him many times what some say you shouldn’t ask a Veteran and that’s the day old question “Did you kill anyone” ?

He was loud and proud to admit “Uncle same couldn’t supply me enough bullets, so I found myself grabbing all the Nazi Weapons possible to raise hell” 😄.
He will be very missed but rest assured this man was so hardened from war he had chances to shake hands with George Patton, I wish the world had more like him.

I’ve honestly received so may DM with contacts about proper places to sell the items and have them publicly displayed and I love that idea they don’t need to be locked away.
I North American VFW & War Relics museum arts center is currently looking to add the Pieces to a new Exhibit built around all the Men my grandfather served with that Entered Berlin not long after The Soviets did. 🥰🥰🥰

I would keep it too based on my research.
Just Saying.

I would contact Tom at Legacy Collectibles. This is his forte. He also has a ton of great youtube videos discussing much of what has already been said here; to include the pistol you showed.

Neat stuff by the way. I also agree with FatalBert inasmuch that a lot of this gear is quickly losing it's stigma and the knee jerk reaction to all things WW2 Germany is fading. Folks are realizing there is not some type of mojo or voodoo attached to a bit of metal or piece of cloth and it can most definitely offer a glimpse into the past and also make the owner some money if desired.

I think the people who do still think that way are numerous, but their influence is failing, because when your own democratically elected president is accused of being worse than Hitler, the general public's reaction to people and things associated with Naziism is going to become mundane.

But if you can, keep as much of that stuff as you can, and get it valued. It will only appreciate in value over time.

Should go to a museum.
God bless your Grandpa and the greatest generation!

I've heard many stories of museum pieces being donated and months or years later finding out that the orginal pieces were replaced with fakes.

This is especially true with Civil War pieces that are donated to museums.

I've had friends donate old family silver to museums only to find out upon inquiry the items were "deaccessioned" at some point in the past.
