First I don’t know if this is ALLOWED to post or discuss… IF NOT I APOLOGIZE PLEASE DELETE ! but my grandfather passed at 98 Veteran of the 82nd Airborne.
In his attic was a wooden ammo box with the following items mind you some are not shown “For very Specific Reasons” !!
Daggers, Flags, Medals, Pins, Banners, 38h Sauer pistol, death 💀 caps, German letter signed by Goebbels, etc

My question is what comes of these things and are they of any value ??

Sounds like I need to go there. I've been somewhere like that, thinking about it. They had trenches all kinds of exhibits like that

I've had friends donate old family silver to museums only to find out upon inquiry the items were "deaccessioned" at some point in the past.

Museums are the last place I'd ever donate anything to. They only display about 10% of what they have at any given time, so your items will likely stay locked away in a box with a high probability of either theft, or being sold by the museum when they want to raise some funds. Either make the museum buy it or sell to a collector who will preserve the history of the piece.

If you decide to let a museum have something, sign a contract for a loan of the item. And if they ever don't want it, it comes back to a family member.

Thanks I just know when I found them the estate sale person was saying I should burn it all cause they claim “ It’s illegal to own” !
Then I said I might ask ppl on here and they said the government don’t allow Swasticas items to be shown it’s hateful lol
That’s why I figured I’d refrain from posting some of it especially the flag and banners.
I do plan to keep the pistol it’s pretty nicely engraved but the rest I have no idea 🤷.
Is there someone specific that can be contacted about this sorta thing ?

The arm band was in very good shape just had some nasty under sweat stained from some German DNA 😂

The dagger scares me cause it in some places near the corrosion almost looked like potential 🩸 😷…
