Dollar Tree has these plastic tubs with vent holes in the top specifically for absorbing moisture. So every week or so you just pour off the water collected in them. We had to have lots of them when we lived in Darien. That was like the birthplace of mildew.Throw a couple of those silica packets in there, should help absorb some of that moisture.
Thank you! I've tried to figure out how to seal under my wall seal.thought so, Efflorescence is salts pushing out of concrete and will cover everything, our basement had bare walls and floor, I pulled everything out and cleaned with muriatic acid and a wire brush, let it dry completely and then sealed walls and floor. If that's what your dealing with and it sure looks like it, dehumidifiers, golden rods will not help. Cleaning and sealing will.
The golden rods just regulate temp.I have a rod in my safe as well but still get some growth. Especially on slings.
Wisdom sir you have, one of the great things this site offers.. ind reason I stay around.. if it wasn’t for guys like you willing to share your help with us … I’d been gone long ago.. I’ll stop there… thanks to you guys that know more than meYou may want to open your safe when you are home and point a fan to the inside and let it run a little while. Do this when you are there of course, just let it run for a couple of hours a day or so , a few days a week. This will help dry it out some more.
But yeah, you definitely have a moisture issue and need to figure out why. More importantly, you gotta remedy that crap as quick as you can. It may take a little work.
Emptying your safe and letting a fan blow in it for a few hours ….. do this a couple of times if you are able to.
There are dozens of ways to remedy this stuff, the biggest thing is to figure out where and why it is occurring and fix that stuff !! Oil them guns down too, with WD-40 !! Wipe them inside and out thoroughly!!
