Gun horror stories! Post yours...

Been shot at twice by a kid with a 270 while deer hunting, he saw something move at about 300 yards, nothing like a bullet wizzing past your face.

Was in a pawn shop once and some guy wanted to trade in his 1911, it was evidently loaded, I was standing to the side went it went off and it missed my leg by inches and blew a hole in the counter.

I did have a beautiful beretta 390 20ga get repossessed by the cops, evidently it was stolen off a UPS truck years earlier and some how a number got ran and they were able to track it. What I think happened was a previous store owner kept it for personal collection, it was still new in box, and when he finally decided to let it go he logged it in or whatever and it got caught when the cops check the pawn tickets they turn in...then they tracked it all the way to me through the shop I eventually bought it in.

Can't even trust a business. I've heard of this before. I hope you were able to get your money back or replace the gun.

This is a good reason why the 4473 is supposed to be filled out by the FFL first with all the firearms being sold that moment.

Not really a horror story, but a story that lasted 8 years. I purchased a Smith and Wesson nickel model 19 from a pawn shop local to me. About 4 months later the local sheriff's department come knocking. They asked to see my guns. I said no and why. They said a gun I purchased was involved in a murder. Since I collect Smiths and had purchased quiet a few from the pawn shop I needed the serial. Once they gave it to me I searched and turned it in. Eventually the case was closed. It was not the murder weapon, but was pawned by the suspects wife. He went to jail and was released about 4 years later. I asked about the gun numerous times over 8 years and they said they needed to keep it for evidence. Also told me if I purchased new this would never happen. I laughed and said I cant purchase new pre-lock guns! I finally started working with the Chaplain at another job and he talked to them and they released it to me after 8 years. Without his help I am not sure they would have ever given it back.
One of the cops probably had it at his house, you know to keep it safe...

Sold a guy a box of 38spl hp ammo in the early 90’s. I looked at his ID (required by my employer) took his cash , made change and put the bullets and receipt in a bag. Guy thanked me and left. He drove to the other side of town to a man whose wife he had been “enjoying”. My customer put two fatal rounds in buddy then one in himself under the chin. The police chief (friend of mine) came and asked me if the guy had bought ammo from us lately, I told him yes earlier that day. He came back and told me later buddy’s revolver had 3 spent cases and 3 hot ones in the cylinder. The bag, the receipt and the box of ammo, less 6, were in buddy’s car.
You just never know…….
Why did he shoot the guy whose wife he'd been enjoying? Unless the guy came in and caught them. Weird.

That was an oft asked question. My first thought was boyfriend and wife came to an end and boyfriend thought taking hubby and himself would leave her a heavy burden to carry 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Always heard that hubby had always abused her.
