Gun Shows: Does Anyone Go Anymore?

Instead of going to a gun show and paying $10-12 a day, just go to one of the local gun stores that are always there during the week and get what you want. Seems that 1/2 the tables are not gun related and reminds of an over priced flea market event. They are not like they were in the past and probably never will be again.

I go if I've nothing else to do and the wife gives me a project list ! Went yesterday to get out of chores Pleasantly surprised to find some small stuff I needed from a couple of the small guys there. I don't even look at the " store " tables

Why bother? The only gun deals are already at Cherokee G&P and I can go there any Saturday. Last time I went to one was a year back, and it was $12 for nothing useful at all.

If you are looking for newer or new guns at MSRP and like getting anally raped on ammo, have fun. If you are looking for good used stuff, older guns and parts, it's still worth going. I bought a nice Leupold and Weaver 36XBR type scopes for .22 silhouettes. Great deal. There are deals if you look. If you buy stuff at Bass Pro, AO, WalMart, Cabela's, etc.? Stay home and shop online.

That's the biggest change. 20 years ago we basically had one local gun store. Now we have maybe a dozen, most locally owned. I can usually dicker as good a deal as I could at a gun show. And I can do all of this on a Sat. afternoon, for free, with less than $2.00 in gas.
