My conversion tactics are working
A heavy barrel bolt action target rifle --something with a ridiculously long barrel like a Winchester model 52. I have used them.
I borrowed one from my dad's friend and kept it for two weeks to test it out. I liked shooting it every now and then, but I would not want to own one.
Black powder cap and ball revolvers.
When I was younger I went shooting with a guy who had some of these. We did plinking with them --knocking over empty soup cans, splattering milk jugs filled with muddy creek water, and ringing steel plates. A 44 caliber black powder revolver has the same ballistic performance as a 38 SPL +P, so it's nothing to sneeze at. I just don't want to own one of my own though.

Nah, you're overthinking it. Your 4th amendment rights are already forfeit for a multitude of other reasons. Thinking that any aspect of .gov respects constitution boundaries is the first error. It's all a game with children that keep changing the rules to make sure they win. T

The beretta m9 is a p38 updated for the modern day but unless it is a United States mil-surp it just seems unnecessary to me. The pistol is larger then it needs to be and is too heavy for the 9mm round when the cz75 proved that ergonomics can be perfect

Ruger 22/45 mark 2 and 3. I love the pistol, shoots great and very accurate. I just can't stand the reassembly. It's honestly enough for me to not have one right now.
I've owned (and still own) a lot of rifles. A lot. The only one I've never been able to reel in is the STG-57. I'd love to own one but I know I wouldn't shoot it much so it seems a waste to actually buy one.
